Winifred Fulton

November 17, 1926 — June 5, 2024

Winifred “Winnie” June Fulton, age 97, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away on June 5, 2024, with family by her side.

Winnie was born on November 17, 1926, in Highland Park, Michigan, the daughter of John and Winifred Schaum.  After graduation from Highland Park High School, Winnie married Edwin Earl Fulton in 1945, and started her career as a stay-at-home mom to five children beginning in Highland Park, Redford Township and then in Sterling Heights, Michigan, where she lived for over 60 years.  Winnie also spent many winters as a snow-bird in St. Petersburg, Florida, living in a home that had once belonged to her beloved mother.

Besides being selected as Mrs. Redford Township in 1956, Winnie was known for her creative side, particularly in baking and decorating beautiful cakes for multiple weddings, showers and other occasions. While living in Sterling Heights, her family became one of the founding families of the Presbyterian Church of Utica now known as the New Life Presbyterian Church.  She loved being active in the “Honey-Doers” Group, working at the church’s “Nearly New Thrift Shop” and performing with her beloved dog, Candy, at the church talent shows.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had a witt like nobody else and loved to create an atmosphere of laughter whenever she could.

Winnie is survived by her children, Edwin (Pat) Fulton of Chandler, Arizona, Janice (Cecil) McMahan of Fowlerville, Michigan, Steven (Kathy) Fulton of Interlochen, Michigan, Laurie (Mike) Kierzkowski of Gladwin, Michigan, Daughter-in-law Rita Fulton of Chelsea, Michigan, 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Edwin Earl Fulton, and son, Ronald Fulton.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the New Life Presbyterian Church, 11300 19 Mile Rd., Sterling Hts., Michigan, 48314, on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Paul Bousquette officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Family and friends are all invited to a luncheon following the service in the church fellowship hall as we continue celebrating Winnie’s life. A private family burial will take place at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Winnie’s memory to the Humane Society of Macomb or any other organization of your choosing.
