Wilbur Paul, 96, of Beaverton, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Medilodge of Midland. He was born on March 28, 1923, the son of Oscar & Theodora (Wilbur) Paul in Detroit. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during World War ll in the South Pacific Theater. At the age of 19 he became the youngest Chief Petty Officer in the Navy and was awarded the Bronze Star with a "V" for valor. After the war he attended the University of Michigan. He was recalled into the Navy during the Korean War and taught at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. In 1946, he was united in marriage to Ruth Mains. She preceded him in death. He later was united in marriage to Jean Cushman who also preceded him in death. He was employed as an electronics engineer for Bendix, while also working in the aerospace industry. Later he owned a tax company called Advantage Tax Service where he worked until the age of 85. He has lived in Beaverton for the past 10 years previously residing in Lake City, Florida & Treasure Island, Florida.
Left to cherish his memory are his 3 children: Mary (Richard) Forbes of Beaverton & San Antonio Texas, Nancy (Dennis) Dodge of Beaverton & Robert (Kathleen) Paul of St. Charles, Missouri. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother: Alfred Paul of Beaverton, along with many nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 st wife: Ruth Paul, 2 nd wife: Jean Paul, 2 children: Susan Maher & Cynthia Krug, 2 sisters: Patricia McAteer & Alice Delman.
Funeral Services with military honors will be conducted by Pastor Sam Hamilton on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, 1:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Billings Twp. Cemetery.
