Wanda Illene Smith, 93, of Gladwin, MI, passed away on July 6, 2023. She was born on July 3, 1930 in Beaverton, the daughter of Edward “Earl” and Mary Elizabeth (Crowell) Woodruff. She was married to Franklin C. Smith before he later preceded her in death. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Gladwin. After the loss of her son, Gregory, Wanda reached out to many grieving parents and helped with Compassionate Friends. She loved going to the Hiawatha Club in the U.P. as well as rooting for her favorite sports teams. Her hobbies included canning, cooking for people, especially those in need, and spending time with her friends and family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kimberly (Joe) Job, Patti (Joe) Noseda; grandchildren: Greg Job, Jeff Job, Jenna (Michael) Hoekstra, Kara Noseda (Byron Slaton); great grandchildren: Julianna, Elaina, Hoekstra; sister-in-law: Theo Woodruff; special friend: Judy Wyse; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; son: Gregory; siblings: Lila Erway, Nola Spencer, Earl Woodruff, Howard Woodruff, Neal Woodruff, Jack Woodruff, Blanche Wilson, and Doris Bock; sister and brother-in-law’s: Jean Smith (Ted Smith), Charlotte Sutherland, Bill Bruce, Gordon Smith.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the Free Methodist Church in Gladwin, MI, at 11:30 AM. Visitation will be held on Monday July 10 from 2-8 PM at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin. She will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Gladwin.
