Violet Ann Gilbert passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a 3 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Violet was born March 8, 1958, the daughter of Robert and Rose Anne (Fetterolf) Cronk in Gladwin. She graduated from Gladwin High School in 1976, and married Terry Gilbert on March 5, 1976 in Gladwin.
Violet reupholstered furniture, and drove for the Gladwin Transit in her younger days. After that, she was the secretary at Shull Transport for many years. She was also the secretary/treasurer for Gladwin Little League for many, many years. She restrung a lot of ball player’s gloves through the years. Violet enjoyed driving her motorcycle to Lake Michigan as much as possible. She attended church at the Gladwin Assembly of God.
Left to honor and cherish her memory is her husband, Terry, daughter and son-in-law, Tatum and Dan Whitfield, grandsons Keith and Grant Whitfield, and her mother, Rose Anne Cronk, all of Gladwin. Violet is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sandy Gilbert of Sparta, TN, Cindy Muma of Gladwin, Larry and Karen Gilbert of Broken Arrow, OK, Joe Gilbert of Gladwin, Pat and Wendy Gilbert of Battle Creek, MI, Don and Deanna Gilbert of Jefferson, GA, and Denny McCulloch of Gladwin, along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Cronk, her sister, Cheryl McCulloch, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Keith and Arlene Gilbert, and her grandson, Robert John Whitfield.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gilbert will be conducted by Pastor Brad Withrow
on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 1 pm
at the Assembly of God Church in Gladwin. Visitation will be held
from 11 am
until the time of service. The service will be live-streamed as several relatives are unable to travel. She will be laid to rest in a private service at Butman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Assembly of God, Fine Arts Dept.
