Thomas Hindman

Thomas W. Hindman Sr., 75, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away February 22, 2021. He was born March 25, 1945 to Thomas and Dorothy (Juneac) Hindman in Gladwin. On August 23, 1968 he married Bonnie Hupp in Gladwin.  She preceded him in death in 2002. Tom, then, married Valerie Cogswell August 29, 2015 also in Gladwin. Tom was very active in the Gladwin Community.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge 397.  Tom was a councilman on the Gladwin City Council and was a member of the Gladwin Housing Commission and Gladwin County Parks and Recreation Committee.  He started the Hazardous Waste Collection program and was instrumental in establishing the Gladwin Skate Park.

Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Army. After his military service, he was employed by Dow Chemical as a Latex Operator and later as a Safety Operator before retiring.

Tom is survived by his wife: Valerie of Gladwin; daughter: Lisa (Chris) Weston of Gladwin; son: Thomas Jr. (Lisa) Hindman of Gladwin; grandchildren: Ethan and Brady Weston, Thomas III and Carson Hindman, Cody (Kayla) Wessel; great-granddaughter: Logynn Wessel. He is also survived by Valerie’s children and grandchildren: Cynda (John) Schroeder, Jason (Sherri) Cogswell; grandchildren: Devon, Logan, Jordan Schroeder.  Also surviving are his cousins: Greg (Mary) Juneac and Jeff (Arlene) Juneac; good friend: Gary Ritchie; and Maureen Conner, Tom’s niece and special caretaker.

Funeral Services will be held for Thomas on Friday, February 26, 2021 starting at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Gladwin, Michigan. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a Masonic Service starting at 7:00 P.M.   He will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Gladwin Michigan.
