Stephen “Steve” H. Erickson, age 77, of Gladwin, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was born on May 7, 1947, the son of Everett and Betty (Harper) Erickson, in Iron Mountain, MI. After graduating with his Master’s from Western Michigan University, Stephen was employed by Dow Chemical where he dedicated many years until his retirement. On the shortest day of the year, December 21, 2013 Stephen married his beloved wife Lesley Salowitz. Their marriage was blessed on the longest day of the year, June 21, 2016. Together, they shared 10 years filled with love and memories. Stephen knew he married “the most beautiful woman he has ever met.”
Stephen always said he enjoyed “water skiing both liquid and solid.” He also loved golfing and maintaining his yard and flower beds, especially the hydrangeas, those were his favorite. He loved a big party, but something he cherished was one-on-one conversations with those around him. He was always someone who appreciated the quality of things, work, and people.
He is survived by his wife: Lesley Erickson; son: Ian (Kate); granddaughter: Wren; step-children: Natalie (Brad) and Nicholas; brothers: Mike (Ann) and Jeff (Jane); aunt: Jerri; cousin: Stacey; mother and father-in-law: Robert and Janice Salowitz; sister-in-law: Lana (John); brother-in-law: Rob (Amy); along with several nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Betty.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gladwin. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 3:00-8:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin.
