Sonja Jane (Langin) Rumminger, age 82, of Gladwin, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. She was born on June 20, 1941, the daughter of Stanley Langin and Leah Belle Chapman, in Riverdale, MI. On June 10, 1962, Sonja married the love of her life, James Rumminger Sr. They shared many years of love and memories until he preceded her in death in 1983.
Sonja was part of the administrative staff in the office of the superintendent at Gladwin Community Schools for many years until her retirement in 2001. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, as well as traveling, bowling, and volunteering. Most of all, Sonja loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: James (Kristen Bates) Rumminger Jr. of Eastpointe, MI, Jeffrey (Janice) Rumminger, and Jina (Don) (Rumminger) Thalmann of Orlando, FL; 4 grandchildren: Leah, Jade, Brody, and Isabelle; and her brother: Phillip Langin.
She is preceded in death by her husband: James Rumminger Sr.; parents: Stanley and Leah Belle; daughter: Jodi; eight brothers; and one sister.
A funeral service will take place on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 12:00 noon at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 10:00 a.m.until the time of service. The immediate family will attend a brief, private burial following the service and then will greet guests at the New Beginnings Global Methodist Church at 309 M-18, Gladwin for a luncheon.
