Roger “Papa” D. Bishop, 73, of Beaverton, Michigan went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gladwin on August 3, 1943 the son of Lester & Violet (Wirt) Bishop. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. On June 13, 1964 he was united in marriage to his true love, Lonnie Finney in Midland, Michigan. He was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County and he was employed as a Post Office Clerk in Midland for 30 years, retiring in 2007 and he was a member of the Church of Daniel’s Band on Bard Road. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially loved collecting rocks, and he was a member of the N.R.A. and Gold Prospector. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife of 53 years, Lonnie Bishop of Beaverton; daughter: Brenda (Scott) Mather of Beaverton; son: Jeremy (Christie) Bishop of Marlette. His children blessed him with 5 beautiful grandchildren: Colton, Jordan, Kyle, Ashley and Joshua; 2 precious great grandchildren: Aubree and Lexie. He will be dearly missed by his sisters: Judy Cole of Beaverton; Vickie Bishop of Gladwin; Tamie (Steve) Robinson of Gladwin; brother: Billy Jo (Darleen) Bishop of Beaverton; several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister: Linda Creguer. Funeral Services will be conducted by Randy Govitz on Friday, August 4, 2017, 11:00 A.M., with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton, Michigan. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 4-8:00 P.M. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at the Beaverton City Cemetery, Beaverton, Michigan.
