Richard Simrau

Richard H. Simrau, age 89, of Gladwin, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. He was born on April 11, 1935, to Henry Simrau and Mae Thompson in Gladwin. Richard dedicated many years to General Motors, working in their manufacturing department until his retirement.

He married his beloved wife, Mary, and together they raised three children and shared many memories until she preceded him in death. Richard had a passion for the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting and fishing. He and Mary also enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises, making unforgettable adventures together. Above all, Richard valued his family, always treasuring the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Susan (Brian) Forbes, Michelle Haynes, and Richard A. Simrau; grandchildren: Heather, Melissa, Elizabeth, Jessica, Sarah, Justin, and Tyler; siblings: Donna Dionne, Norma Ward, Edith Bennett, and Carol Schott; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife: Mary; parents: Henry and Mae; siblings: Carlene Simrau, Florence Hunt, Margaret Hermes, Onalee Betts, Ralph Simrau, Howard Simrau, and Louis Simrau; along with many dear friends.

Memorial services will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin.
