Richard Roehrs

Richard Roehrs, 95, of Beaverton, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Horizon Senior Living, Gladwin. He was born on May 1, 1926, the son of Carl and Lydia (Piepke) Roehrs in Beaverton. On February 6, 1950, he was united in marriage to Dora "Lucille" Walker in Flint. She preceded him in death in 2010. He was a distinguished alumni of Beaverton High School. Rich was a proud veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving his country during World War II from 1944-1946. He was a World War II Honor Flight Participant. He later graduated from Central Michigan University with his degree in Business. He worked for Dow for a few years and worked for Herm Colbeck in Beaverton for Colbeck Chevrolet. In 1969, Rich purchased Colbeck Chevrolet in Beaverton and Miller Motor Sales in Gladwin, and the two dealerships became Roehrs Chevrolet Oldsmobile. Rich was very much community oriented, and enjoyed his years as a business owner serving the communities of Beaverton and Gladwin. In 1987, he retired and sold the business. Rich and Lucille spent the winters in Texas for many years after retirement. He was an avid golfer and bowler and was a member of the Gladwin and Beavrton Bowling Hall of Fame. RIch's legacy will forever be remembered for his charitable work done within the community. He was on the Board for Mid Michignan Community College and First of America Bank, a member of the Beaverton Lions Club, and a Beaverton Activity Center contributor and supporter. Rich was a longtime member and treasurer of the Gladwin American Legion Post 171, and help orchestrate getting the World War I monument in Ross Lake Park. He was faithfully devoted and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Michael Roehrs of Wyoming, Anthony (Nancy) Roehrs of St. Louis, MI, David (Nancy) Roehrs of Gladwin, and William Roehrs Sr. of Beaverton; grandchildren: Julie, Chad, Todd, Ryan, Stefanie, Travis, Trina, Tammy, Bill Jr., Angie, and Robert; 22 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren; sister: Mary Ann Jones; sister in-law: Jackie Roehrs; along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughter in-law: Eleanor Roehrs; brother: Herb Roehrs. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor James Krach on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Gladwin. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022, from 3-8:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton. He will be laid to rest at Dale Cemetery, Beaverton. Military Honors will be presented by Gladwin American Legion Post 171.
