Richard (Joe) Sims of Beaverton Michigan, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away April 24, 2017 at the age of 71 years old. Joe was a born again Christian that loved the Lord. He also loved the outdoors especially hunting, trapping and fishing. He was a very kind man that had a special bond with his family and adored all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served in the Navy Seabee from 1966 to 1969 with medals for National Defense Service, Vietnam Service and the Vietnam Campaign. Surviving are his sisters Norma (Stork), Vera (Dubay), brother Chuck (Gennie), wife Karen (Lawrence), daughters Tina (Dan) Gennette, Tammy (Michael) Williams, and Jody (Joe) Faber, grandchildren: Briana, John, Kaylin, Joseph, Jordan, Josh and Justina, great grandchildren: Ariana, Maddie, Xandur, Rylee and Leola as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Vera and Norman Sims, brothers George, Jerry and Tom Sims, sisters Donna (Pavlicek) and Joyce (Guyott). A memorial service will take place on May 5, 2017 at 1:00 P.M., with a visitation beginning at 12:00 P.M. at the Beaverton Baptist Church, on 2888 W. Dale Rd, Beaverton, Michigan 48612.
