Peter Joseph Caruso, 89, of Gladwin, passed away on March 17, 2022, at My Michigan Medical Center, Midland. He was born on November 18, 1932, the son of Peter and Rose (Consiglio) Caruso in Wyandotte. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He wore his Veteran cap with pride everywhere he went. Peter enjoyed playing euchre and when not monopolizing euchre tournaments he enjoyed nature. Playing cards he created a circle of friends that became family over the years. Hunting was his lifelong passion. He loved to hunt deer, turkey, ducks, and anything that moved often found themselves in the crosshairs of his cherished rifle. If not in the trees he was in the river fishing. Peter loved flowers and dabbled in exotic species. Often spotting a fabulous find alongside the road and “helping” it to a safer ground in his garden. Peter discovered his love of nature crossed into breeding and raising birds. Finches and canaries were the apples to his eyes. The love of nature came second to his love of family and friends.
He is survived by his three daughters: Rose Miller, Michelle Mullins, and Jill Caruso. Peter leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
