Paul Shearer

Paul Edwin Shearer “Ed”, age 80, of Beaverton, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. He was born on August 21, 1944, the son of John and Vera (Foor) Shearer, in Gladwin. Ed was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent many years as a Dairy Farmer. On June 5, 1964, Ed married the love of his life, Barbara Card, in Gladwin. Together, they shared 60 years of love and cherished memories. 

Ed had a lifelong passion for sports. He loved being part of the action as a referee and umpire, officiating a variety of games. Beyond officiating, Ed enjoyed playing softball, a sport he actively participated in until the age of 63. He also shared his love for the game by coaching basketball, inspiring others with his knowledge and enthusiasm.

He is survived by his beloved wife: Barbara Shearer; children: Roland (Terri) Shearer, Robin (Dennis Martin) Smith-Martin, Brian Shearer, Lee Shearer, Edward (Tina) Shearer, Brenda (Brent Rohen) Bing, Mike Shearer, Thomas Shearer, Rhonda (Christopher) Wilber, Anthony (Tiffanie) Shearer, and Joseph (Ali) Shearer; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: William (Ruthann) Shearer and Francis (Marilyn) Shearer; sister-in-law: Nancy Shearer; along with several nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Edward Shearer. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. at the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene, followed by a meal at the church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
