Patrick W. Moran, 79, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 5, 1938 the son of Charles & Geneva (Curtiss) Moran. He married Cynthia Shaw in Grosse Pointe, Michigan on October 4, 1969 and she predeceased him in 2011. On October 12, 2013 he was united in marriage to Barbara Mikkelson-Degen in Gladwin. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Patrick was employed as a Salesman “everyone considered him to be the ultimate peddler” working for Wilson Welding and Medical Gases in Warren, Michigan. His family and friends were his world and his generosity was second to none. He very much loved Grosse Pointe and he was in the 1 st graduating class of Austin High School 1956. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had lived in Gladwin County for the last 7 years, previously residing in St. Clair Shores. He was a member of F.O.E. Gladwin Aerie 3292; the Forty & Eight Club in Harrison, Michigan; the Moose Lodge in Bonita Springs, Florida; the American Legion in Holland, Michigan; AMVETS; The Grosse Pointe Lions Club & a founding member of I Care of Michigan. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife: Barbara Moran of Gladwin; son: John Patrick (Virginia) Moran of Grosse Pointe; daughter: Amy Frances (Roger) Doppelberger of Lexington. He was blessed with 3 beautiful grandchildren: Victoria, Meghan and Maria; 1 precious great grandchild: Jagger & his beloved dog: Carter. His memory will also be cherished by Barbara’s 4 daughters: Wanda, Cindy, Kathy, Marsha & their families. He will be dearly missed by his sister: Mary Gannon-Ford of Birmingham; sister in-law: Shelley Smith of Lake Orion; brother in-law: Scott Shaw of Cheyboygan, Wisconsin and several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his 1 st wife: Cynthia Moran; parents: Charles & Geneva Moran; brother: Thomas C. Moran; in-laws: Helen & Lloyd Shaw; brother in-law: Thomas A. Smith. A celebration of Patrick W. Moran’s life will take place at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 6, 2017 at Riverwalk Place, 777 W. Cedar Avenue, Gladwin, Michigan, 48624. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan on Monday, January 8, 2018, 2:30 P.M.
