Nancy Lee (Baker) Thompson, 75, of Allegan, MI (formerly of Midland and Gladwin) passed away January 28, 2018 with her family by her side. She was born in Midland, MI on April 24, 1942 and was the daughter of Arthur and Marion (Kaweck) Baker. She graduated from Midland High School in 1960. She married the love of her life, Bernard Nelson Thompson, on October 19, 1968. He predeceased her on May 28, 2016. She devoted most of her life to taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a volunteer at Amble Elementary School, a brownie and girl scout leader and a CCD teacher at church. She was very active in her daughters’ track teams and several other activities. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling to all 50 states, volunteering at the Allegan Food Pantry, and going to the casino.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Kendra (Rob) McNees of Allegan and Kathy (Paul) Meyer of Shepherd; 5 grandchildren: Cody McNees, Austin (Casey Owens-Scofield) McNees, Brittney Meyer, Ashlea (Cory Brown) McNees and Kaitlyn Meyer and 1 great-grandchild, Remington McNees; 4 brothers: Thomas (Jean) Baker of Midland, Richard (Diane) Baker of Hudsonville, Joseph Baker of Essexville, Robert (Debby) Baker of Midland; 2 sisters: Ann (Cliff) Blake of Hope, Elizabeth (Phil) Laleman of Essexville; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws: Terry (Tammy) Thrush of Midland, Dorothy (Basil) Loar and Margaret (Craig) O’Dell of Beaverton; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, mother and father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, 2 sisters and 2 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 2 pm – 4 pm and 5 pm - 8 pm. She will be laid to rest in the Sherman Twp. Cemetery in Skeels. A graveside service will be held there following the funeral service.
