Myrna Gerow

May 29, 1934 — December 8, 2021

Myrna Marie Gerow, of Gladwin, daughter of LeRoy “Roy” and Una Landskroener and sister of Robert “Bob” Landskroener, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

As a child, Myrna developed a strong sense of responsibility and work ethic by helping her father, a butcher, in his meat market and grocery store. She excelled in school and studied business in college in Washington, D.C.

Soon after returning home from our nation’s capital, she was swept off her feet by Delbert “Del” Schultz and they were married. During their life together, they shared a love of music, dance and faith. While busy raising three children, they made several family moves throughout the United States and enjoyed many new experiences.

Myrna took her responsibilities as a homemaker to heart. Whether she was cooking, baking, cleaning or tackling any other task at hand she often sang along and sometimes danced to the steady stream of music coming from her beloved radio. It was always on. This brought her true joy. As did baking. She loved baking! Whatever you requested, she made it. Myrna’s raspberry pie was a fan favorite.

She was always up for a game! Any card game, board game, golf game as long as it included the word game, she was ready to play! Her love of puzzles was evident from the crosswords that were always at hand and you could spot an ever present jigsaw puzzle displayed on a nearby table; ready for anyone to join in and complete the picture. Myrna also had a love of quilting, sewing, cross stitch, needlepoint and she generously gave her creations as gifts; or adorned her home with her favorites. She was an avid reader and always ready with an answer to any question. As the queen of trivia, she was affectionately nicknamed, “The Book”. And when she took time to relax, she played the piano.

Later in life, she met and married James “Jim” Gerow, and created a blended family of five children; Cheryl (Richard) Jackson; Mark (Denise) Schultz; Michael (Julie) Schultz; Michelle (Jeff) Gerow-Ellis; and Mike (Kellie) Gerow. Their children blessed them with 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Jim & Myrna lived their golden years together like two teenagers; spending their days traveling, socializing and enjoying many fun activities with family and friends. During the colder months they happily lived and played among their fellow “Snowbirds” in Florida.

Throughout Myrna’s life, the one thing that remained the same, day in and day out, was her unwavering faith. She attended weekly worship services at Our Savior Lutheran Church and served as a member of The Ladies Aid, sang in the choir and played the organ. We know that Myrna was always ready to answer the call to his heavenly Father and felt at peace knowing she would be welcomed into His loving home.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband and her grandchild, Matthew Schultz.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19, only the immediate family will attend the funeral service at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Open visitation, Monday, December 13, 2021, from 4:00PM-7:00PM, at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, 440 Cedar Ave, Gladwin, MI 48624, (989) 426-7651.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Our Savior Lutheran Church Worship Team, 331 Clendening Road, Gladwin, MI 48624; (989) 426-9689.
