Linda Borgondy

July 12, 1951 — January 3, 2023

Linda Cora Borgondy (Rudolph)

Passed away at the age of 71 on January 3, 2023 in the Midland hospital after a number of health issues. Linda was a resident of Gladwin, MI, having moved there with her family in 1987.

She was born in 1951 in Pottsville, PA and grew up in Bloomsburg, PA.

She loved the Bloomsburg Fair, a large, annual event that occurs every year in September. Linda’s childhood home bordered the fairgrounds and she had many fond memories of it. Her father ran a sno-cone stand there for many years.

When she was 16 and in High School Linda spent the year in Sweden as a Rotary foreign exchange student, and she always spoke fondly of her time there. She stayed with a local family and was immersed in the culture and language. She even showed off her baton twirling to the students at the local school. She graduated high school in 1969.

Linda attended Bloomsburg State College and graduated in three years. She spent a semester in Kentucky involved in a social work program with Union College. Linda helped a local orphanage there to equip the children with birth certificates and background info. She also earned a scholarship to the University of Stockholm and returned overseas as part of her college experience.

She enjoyed babysitting at an early age, became passionate about peace protests and had the pleasure of visiting the World Fair in NYC in 1964.  Linda was happy to volunteer at her kids school and enjoyed tent camping, gardening and trying new things. She was a stay-at-home Mom while her children were young, and then worked as a rural postal mail deliverer and later at the DHS in Harrison.

Linda loved reading and the bi-annual Festival of Faith and Writing at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI was another favorite event of hers to attend with her family.

Linda held tight to her Christian faith throughout her life, and told her children while in the hospital that she would see them again one day. She was loved so much and will be forever missed.

She is predeceased by her father, Paul Rudolph, and younger brother, Wayne Rudolph. She is survived by her mother, Sarah Rudolph, her sister Kelly Sue Kimsal (along with brother-in-law Vince Kimsal, and their children Clay and Edwin Kimsal), her children, Noah Borgondy and Mackenzie Batterbee (and their spouses, Meghan Borgondy and Chris Batterbee), and her grandchildren Beau, Eden, Emmitt, and Maren Batterbee and Emabel, Hadley, and Raelyn Borgondy, as well as her former husband, Courtney Borgondy.

A celebration of life service will be held by the family at a later date. In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to “Reeling and Heeling,” a foundation that Linda, as a breast cancer survivor, held near & dear to her heart. Fish on! https://fishon.org/donate
