Leonard Koontz

Leonard R. Koontz, age 62 of Gladwin, Michigan passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 surrounded by his family at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Leonard was born in Clare, Michigan on April 22, 1955 to Roscoe and Caroline (Peters) Koontz. On June 22, 1974 he was united in marriage to his true love, Paula Mitchell in Gladwin. He had lived in Gladwin County his entire life, and he began his life farming at home until the age of 18. He then began driving wrecker for Gladwin Oil Company from 1973-1985, worked at Graff Motor Sales Inc. from 1990-2000, Triple M Collision from 2000-2016. He was the maintenance and grounds keeper for the Corner House, and maintenance for Walravens Car Wash since 2012. He attends Old Time Missionary Baptist Church in Clare. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife of nearly 43 years, Paula Koontz of Gladwin; daughters: Selena (Jeff) Volmering of Gladwin; Wanda (Tim) McClain also of Gladwin. He was blessed with 3 beautiful grandchildren: Grace Volmering; Austin Volmering and Nicholas McClain. He will be dearly missed by his parents: Roscoe & Caroline Koontz of Gladwin; sister: Linda (Del) Gower of Yuma, Arizona; brothers: Kevin (Robin) Koontz of Gladwin; Jeff (Sally) Koontz of Temperance; Terry (Rita) Koontz of Gladwin and several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place and Memorial Services will be conducted on Monday, May 8, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 1-4:00 P.M.
