Leonard Divenere

October 5, 1934 — October 8, 2019

Leonard (Leo) DiVenere, 85, of Gladwin, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw. He was born on October 5, 1934, the son of Nicola & Annunziata DiVenere in Bari, Italy. At the age of 5, Leo and his family sailed across the Atlantic and settled in Detroit. On September 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to his true love Mary Neal in Angola, Indiana and resided in Lincoln Park. He was a tool & die maker for Ford Motor Company for 43 years until his retirement in 1993. After retirement they moved to Sugar Springs, Gladwin.  Leo enjoyed downhill skiing, camping, cycling and spending time on his boat with Mary and his family.  Leo was also a member of the Hardly Able bowling league.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 wonderful years: Mary DiVenere; children Nancy (Bob) Thomas, Becky (Bryan) Root, Jean DiVenere and Amy (Dave) Smith; grandchildren: Amanda (Micheal) de la Cuadra, Leah Peczynski, Kayla (Dakota) Henige, Brianna Peczynski, Madelene Schook, Abby Smith, Ruthann Smith and David Smith; and 4 great-grandchildren, Alexander de la Cuadra, Damien de la Cuadra, Easton Henige, Wesley Henige and baby Henige yet to arrive.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Nicola and Annunziata DiVenere, his sister, Anna (Rocco) Latorre and his son, Leonard Nicole DiVenere.

Funeral Services honoring Leo will be conducted by Pastor Brad Withrow on Sunday, October 13, 2019, 3:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, 440 E Cedar Ave, Gladwin, Michigan 48624.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Butman Township Cemetery, Gladwin.  Flowers and contributions are both welcome. The family is requesting that contributions be designated for Diabetes Services and made to MidMichigan Medical Center at https://midmichigan.thankyou4caring.org/midland-donations .
