Leo W. Martonosi Jr., 94, of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Midland, Michigan. He was born on May 29, 1923, the son of Leo & Anna (Charieta) Martonosi in Gladwin, Michigan. He was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during World War II. He served in the 87 th infantry and received a bronze star. On July 18, 1942, he was united in marriage to Helen Dumitru in Gladwin, Michigan. She preceded him in death in 1995. He was an owner/operator at Leo’s Place in Gladwin for 50 years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, especially his great nephew: Emil Myers and Frank Salciccioli. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling and playing cards. He sponsored Leo’s Place bowling team and Little League team for many years. Leo was a member of the Gladwin Eagles Aerie 3292, V.F.W. 7303, Estey Moose Lodge 456, and Knights of Columbus 2120 in Harrison, Michigan. He was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Leo III (Bianne) Martonosi of Holland; Tina Martonosi and companion Matt Craine of Flint; daughter in-law: Kathy Martonosi of Holland; grandchildren: Lisa (Jim), Dena, Nathan, Heather (Hector), David (Jennette), Joshua, Sam (Leah), and Ruth; 13 great grandchildren; special friend: Betty Muma; brother: Joe Martonosi of Gladwin; and several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; son: Nick Martonosi; grandson: Mark Leo; 3 brothers; 2 sisters. Funeral Liturgy will be conducted by Fr. Marcel Portelli on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017, from 2-9:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Gladwin, Michigan.
