Larry L. Mielke

Larry L. Mielke, 73, of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, January 19, 2019. He was born on May 22, 1945, the son of Oswald & Irene (Conner) Mielke in Gladwin, Michigan. On July 3, 1965, he was united in marriage to Nancy Swanstra in Clare, Michigan. He retired in 2000 after 37 years of service as a pipefitter for Dow Chemical. He was also a lifetime farmer and was proud of his tractors. He enjoyed displaying them in tractor shows and drove in the Mackinaw Bridge Crossing for the first 10 years. Among his many hobbies he enjoyed hunting, spending time with family at the lake and racing, especially watching his great nephew #87. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years: Nancy Mielke of Gladwin; son: Dale Mielke of Beaverton; daughters: Julie (Rob) Hall of Beaverton; Melissa (Mike) Larsen of Gladwin. His children blessed him with 6 wonderful grandchildren: Jennifer (Madison), Erica (Kyle), Chad, Kaytlin, Kynlee & ShayLynn, brother-in-law: Tom Garver and several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law: David and Liz Mielke and sister: Lois Garver. Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, January 25th, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Gladwin. The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the donor’s charity of choice.
