Kevin Martz Sr.

November 29, 1954 — August 3, 2018

Kevin Martz Sr., born November 29, 1954 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, passed away August 3, 2018 at Mid Michigan Health in Midland, Michigan after a long illness. He married Patricia Schmidt in 1975. In 1985 he married Lynn Kelch. In 1991 he married Jeanette (Jaye) Rhinehart Perry who survives him. Kevin was a loyal friend, generous to a fault and loving family man to his extended family. He was very proud of his award in the Midland Daily News All-Area Football Team for playing defensive lineman in Gladwin’s 1972 Championship Football Team. This picture is currently displayed at the Riverwalk Grill in Gladwin. He was an avid sportsman, playing football and baseball after graduation on many area teams. He very much enjoyed coaching the Gladwin Hospital Girls Softball team and truly loved to play golf. His other hobbies were bowling, and hunting, and he was thrilled to be able to ride in the #36 race car at the Las Vegas race track. He loyally followed the Detroit Lions, even from California where he moved to in 1996 to take a position as Property Maintenance Manager for San Francisco Bay Area Girl Scouts where he lived at one of the 11 camps and properties. He took oversight and maintenance from Daly City, Oakland to Lake Tahoe area in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He had worked at Ashcrafts Market for 13 years, Camp Deer Trails in Harrison for 3 years and running the home beef cattle farm before moving to California. He returned to Gladwin in 2009. He leaves his wife: Jaye Martz; son: Kevin Jr. (Cyndie) Martz of Lansing; stepsons: Don Conklin of Alma;  Robert (Kim) Hagerty of St. Louis; stepdaughter: Deborah (Adam) Casillas of Oxnard, California; 2 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren and 1 step great grandson; many nieces & nephews; 2 brothers and 1 sister. Everyone who ever knew Kevin has a favorite story and memory. According to his wishes, he will be cremated. A Memorial get-together was held on August 4 th and he will be placed with his parents at a later date.
