Katie Gillman

Catherine “Katie” Gillman, 88, of Gladwin, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Midland. She was born on November 29, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Frieda (Helmkamp) Breidert in Lidderdale, Iowa. On August 12, 1967, she was united in marriage to her true love Tommie Gillman in Carroll, Iowa. Katie was an LPN, she began her career working at the hospital in Carroll, Iowa and later for the VA Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. After her and Tommie married, they moved to Pocahontas, Iowa, and there she fell in love with taking care of the elderly. She worked in a nursing home for several years before relocating to Gladwin, and finishing her career working for Pratt Lake Nursing and Rehab. She was a devout Christian and a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. For several years Katie and Tommie traveled the United Sates for Mission Builders, where they would build and remodel churches. In her spare time Katie loved knitting, crocheting, fishing, cooking, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband: Tommie of Gladwin; sons: Paul (Amy) of Linden and Marc (Kathy) of Suffolk, VA; 9 grandchildren: Pat, Mike, Jim, Liz, Bill, Rose, John, Zane, and Dean; sister: Lulu Belle (Larry) Taylor of Iowa, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Norbert, Lois, Dorothy, and Ethel.
