Judith A. Penix, 79, of Gladwin, MI passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021. She was born July 5, 1942 the daughter of Joseph and Lucille (Kowalczewski) Hernacki in Detroit, MI. Judith spent her working years as an advertising coordinator for Lyle Industries until her retirement in 1998. On June 16, 2007 she was united in marriage to Dan McGowen. In her spare time she loved spending time with her family, baking cookies, tending to her flower garden, and making her famous pierogi on Christmas Eve. Above all else Judith was a family woman. She loved generously and was cherished by all.
She is survived by her husband: Dan McGowen; children: Lisa Penix of Beaverton and Bill (Kim) Penix of Gladwin; grandchildren: Todd (Alyssa) Doane, Alyssa (Joey) Boahbedason, Mariah (Jared) Beecher, Ben Penix and Savannah Butterfield; great-grandchildren: Xander, Marylin, Caspian, Hank, Hudson, and Wesley; and dear friend and sister-in-law Ann Penix.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Lucille; sister: Lorraine Boik and her husband Wally Boik.
Honoring her wishes cremation will take place. Memorial Services will be conducted by Elder Roger Haines on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. The family will be receiving guests beginning at 12:00 P.M. until the time of service. The service will be begin at 1:00 P.M. Judith will be laid to rest at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home.
