Joyce Ann Sersaw passed away peacefully due to complications with dementia. She had been a resident of Horizon Assisted Living in Gladwin, Michigan for the last 7 years.
Born June 5, 1947 she was the first child of Forest and Marjorie (Sheets) Sersaw (both deceased). A short time later her siblings began their arrival growing their family. Linda (Gary) Keeley of Michigan, Richard Sersaw (deceased), Barbara (Mick deceased) Cropper of Texas.
Joyce eventually had 5 children of her own. Paul (Cheryl) Cingano of California; Steve Cingano of Michigan; Tracy (Mark) Grove of Michigan; Shelly Cingano (deceased) and Darrell Walker of Mississippi.
Grandchildren: Bryant (deceased), Zach, Ritchie, Pauly; Brad, Ronnie; Devin, Kristopher (deceased); Jennifer (deceased), Dustin (deceased). McKenzie and 2 step-grandchildren Emilee and Wyatt
Great Grandchildren: Tristen, Caoimhe, Marcus
She also leaves behind 4 nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces and nephews.
Joyce spent most of her working years as a waitress and absolutely loved the hard work and her customers. If you spent time in any of her restaurants talking to customers, they had only good things to say about her. It was difficult to give this up and when she had too, it took a toll on her both physically and emotionally. As she worked to navigate her new normal, she focused on those who needed her and where she could be helpful. She was, really, never able to fully find her peace.
As you read all those who predeceased her, you will notice grief was something she knew all too well. She had to navigate the loss of her father, mother, brother, brother-in-law, daughter and 4 grandchildren (Kristopher, Jennifer, Dustin, Bryant). As difficult a life she led, she was always there for others, giving what she could.
