Jose Romero

Jose J.R. Romero, 82, of Alger, Michigan, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018, at the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home. He was born on August 11, 1936, the son of Jose E. & Vergena (Montoya) Romero in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Jose proudly served his country for 21 years from 1955-1976. His first 2 years he served in the United States Army followed by 19 years in the United States Air Force. He then went to work for Buick City in Flint as a pipefitter until his retirement in 1989. In 1989 after retiring from Buick City he moved to Alger, Michigan. In 1995, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Foster. Jose enjoyed working with tractors & heavy equipment, but most of all genuinely enjoyed helping others. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 23 years: Evelyn Romero of Alger; sister: Isabella of South Carolina; step-sons: Clifford Walters & Leonard Walters; 1 step great grandchild; 2 step great great grandchildren; caretaker: Shirley Gibson. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Brad Lower on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, 12:00 noon at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. He will be laid to rest in New Mexico at his family plot. www.hall-kokotovichfuneralhome.co m
