Jeffrey Thomas Switzer, age 58, passed away on November 4, 2023 in Traverse City.
A beloved son, brother, father and uncle, Jeff graduated from Corona Del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona and then attended Northern Arizona University. In 1991 Jeff met his future wife and partner, Kelly Greenman and they married in 1994. Jeff enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, building and handy work, he had a love for animals, and also enjoyed listening to country music and classic rock. He was an avid sports fan and passed that love of sports down to his children.
Jeff was a very talented framing tradesman and oil/gas landman. He worked extensively in the construction and oilfield trade throughout northern Michigan, Antiqua, British West Indies, Phoenix, Arizona, Stanley and Williston, Maryland and Harve, Montana.
Surviving Jeff are his parents, Bob and Jan (Snyder) Switzer of Gladwin; stepson, David Greenman; daughter, Dorothy (Joshua) Burns; sons, Robert Switzer and Peter Switzer, all of Traverse City; his parents Bob and Jan of Gladwin; brothers, Scott Switzer of Arizona and Tim (Julie) Switzer of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Jeff had a very large, loving, and extended family as well as many wonderful friends. To accommodate everyone, Jeff’s life is being celebrated with three different ceremonies.
The first celebration will be on Friday, November 10th at the Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin (440 E. Cedar Ave., Gladwin), with visitation from 10 to 11 AM and a memorial service starting at 11 AM. There will be a memorial luncheon following that service at the Gladwin Eagle Lodge (101 N. State St., Gladwin).
The second celebration of Jeff’s life will be on Saturday, November 11th at the Portland First Congregational Church (421 Bridge St., Portland), with visitation from 12 Noon to 1 PM and a memorial service starting at 1 PM with coffee and refreshments to follow.
The final celebration of Jeff’s life will be on Thursday, November 16th from 3 to 7 PM at the Cherryland VFW Post 2780 in Traverse City (3400 Veterans Dr. Traverse City). Please feel free to come and go as your schedule allows.
Final inurnment will be at Portland Cemetery.
