Jeffrey Alan Fassett passed away on January 7, 2023, after a courageous fight with cancer. Jeff was born to Richard and Mary Ann Fassett in Gladwin on June 2, 1961. He was 62 years old and was devoted to his family.
Jeff was a charmer. Everyone who knew him, loved him for his warm embrace, his generous heart, and his kindness. His sweet smile will be dearly missed. He was the first to show his appreciation and was passionate about caring for others, especially his parents. For many years he was close neighbors with his parents and took great care of them.
To say Jeff had a green thumb would be an understatement. He would work countless hours in his garden that produced 300 green peppers, 600 onions and more beans and tomatoes than anyone could ever want. He humbly shared all of the produce with his friends and family.
Gardening was not the only hobby that was therapeutic to Jeff, he enjoyed the outdoors his entire life. He loved hunting, watching deer at his house, planting large food plots and going on side-x-side rides in Canada with his family or for day trips in Michigan. Often times you could find him on his tractor, or near the water.
All of Jeff’s close friends and family have fond memories with him, and everyone admits he wasn’t always a rule follower. He was always great at completing a task, as long as he could complete the task his way. It was never the way he was told to do it, but it was done well. He was funny, and could make anyone laugh and smile.
He was a hard worker and by trade he was a lineman for most of his life - it was exciting watching him confidently scale trees and poles. He was also a pro at cutting down trees and predicting exactly where they would land.
Jeff was a faithful servant to the Lord and a member of Sacred Heart Parish and served with the Knights of Columbus.
Jeff is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Fassett; daughter Kate (Heath) Shaner; and six grandchildren: Paul, Isaac, and Piper Shaner, Clara and Annika Fassett, and Colette Robel; siblings Lori (Andy) VanSlooten, Amy (Dave) Cote, Rick (Carol Tauck) Fassett, and Mark Fassett; nephews Tim, Mitch (Katie), Dillon, Joseph (Madi), Samuel, Matt, Mark, and Ryan; and niece Alysa. He is preceded in death by his son James Fassett and his father Richard Fassett.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gladwin. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 4-8:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin. He will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Gladwin.
