James P. Wylie passed away on March 12, 2022 at the age of 89. James was born in Flint and attended St. Mathews Catholic Church, he was an altar boy for Father Powers until he was 18. He graduated from St. Mathews and he excelled in sports: football, basketball, and his favorite baseball. His skill was pitching. He continued after graduation to play in the Flint City Leagues. The Flint Journal featured him many times, especially when he pitched a no-hitter. He worked for Consumer Power before learning his real gift as a salesman. He worked for local stores selling everything from appliance, organs, pianos, carpets, and was a top rep for Magline of Pinconning.
Jim lived in Mt. Morris selling Limos and Hearses for dealerships, when he met Joeann at the local laundry mat. They were married October 6, 1988. After becoming salesman of the year Jim decided to have his own livery with three limos. They lived in Mt. Morris for 20 years where they attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Joeann’s family. He loved becoming “gramps“ to Bryan II and Samantha who they watched while the parents worked. Bryan and Samantha attended St. Mary’s School and both were altar servers. Retirement came for Jim in 2005 and they moved north to Pinconning Rd. near Joeann’s daughter. They enjoyed good neighbors and attended St. Anne’s in Edenville and later Sacred Heart in Gladwin.
Jim liked the small community atmosphere. He mowed the lawn, fed the birds and deer, and went to exercise in Gladwin or Beaverton. His favorite was “shopping” at the local places like Fruchey’s, the Bulk Store, Myers for Tires, and Family Farm. He liked talking to people and he was a good listener too.
James leaves Joeann, her children: Bryan (Angela), Jeffery (Diane), and Lorrie (dog: Rex Memphre), Grandchildren: Bryan II (Miranda), Samantha, Great Grandchildren: Lillian, Bryan II, Bentley, and Carley. Also a favorite nephew of his first wife Rebecca Link; Charles (Kim); sister in-law: Vivian Russell. Jim will be remembered as a man of faith who gave to his church, St. Jude’s, Veterans, and others. He was a good man.
He lost his mother, father, sister: Catherine, and brother: Benjamin.
