James Gedney

June 30, 1960 — October 22, 2024

James (Jim) Gedney, age 64 of Beaverton, MI passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 22, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1960 to William (Bill) Gedney and Joyce (Newman) Earle. Jim grew up in Clare, MI and was 1978 graduate of Clare High School. He was preceded in death by his father Bill and step mother, Bonita (Dede) Gedney. He is survived by his mother Joyce and step father George Earle, sister’s Linda (Claude) Cassidy of Clare, Julie (Kurt) Rank of Clare and his son, Jordan Gedney (Jared Ledvina) of Ann Arbor, MI.

Jim worked in various capacities throughout his life starting with his early childhood years working summers on his grandparents farm. He then worked alongside his father in the family excavating business for several years. He was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic, working in California and Nevada. He also worked as an over the road truck driver, both locally and cross country and farmed with the Fitzpatrick’s family. Jim was well known for his hard work ethic and honesty. He will be missed dearly and leaves a lifetime of friendships he made along his journey. Jim was one of a kind and we are sincerely appreciative of those already sharing their stories of him with us.

Visitation with Jim’s family will be on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 1:00-3:00pm at the Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin, MI. Inurnment will be immediately following in Gladwin Highland Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his father and family members. We know Jim’s preference in lieu of flowers would simply be lending a helpful hand or listening ear to anyone in need or memorial contributions to the Helping Hands Mission in Beaverton, MI.
