James W. Frick

July 6, 1978 — May 1, 2022

James Wesley Frick, 43, of West Branch, MI passed away on May 1, 2022 after a long and brave battle with cancer. James was born July 6, 1978 to Paul Phagan and Jodee Betts in Pontiac, MI. He grew up and lived the majority of his life in Gladwin County graduating from Beaverton High School in 1997. James was an avid athlete and loved running Track for Beaverton. After graduation he went on and served in the United States Army for a short time before being honorably discharged. In 2001 he welcomed his son Tyler into the world making him a proud father. James was an outdoor guy who enjoyed camping, hunting, and especially fishing. When James was not enjoying the outdoors he loved cheering on his favorite teams, The University of Michigan and The Detroit Red Wings. He was a naturally quiet and reserved man but when a topic of interest arose he could sure talk your ear off. He had many struggles and triumphs in life but was always strong willed and pushed through the best he could with anything and everything life gave him. Ultimately it was this same strength and determination that helped him fight the odds as long as he could battling his cancer.

Preceding him in death is his father: Paul Phagan.
