James Fassett, 36, found peace Monday, March 29.
James was a man who wanted a quiet, simple life making something out of nothing. He was most at home deep in the woods, particularly “The 40.” He was a maker who loved to work with his hands, creating new inventions out of scrap parts or wildcrafting a cabin with natural materials. James loved making things grow and he was great with all manner of plants.
He had a great sense of humor and could put any one at ease with his goofy ear to ear smile. He was always ready with a witty observation or a deep philosophical conversation. James always rooted for the underdog and he had an instinct to protect and help people who were down on their luck.
James is survived by his daughters Annika and Colette, his fiance Nicole Walter, his parents Jeff Fassett and Brenda Stickney, his grandparents Dick and Mary Ann Fassett, his sisters Kate (Heath) Shaner, Beth Vaillancourt, Jordan, Taylor, and Sheanna Hagle, two nieces, three nephews, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandparents John Stickney and Dorothy Richmond.
There will be a gathering in honor of James at Rivertown Inn in Gladwin on April 10th at 1 p.m.
