Irene C. Malosh

Irene Clara Malosh, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023, at the Horizon Senior Living home where she resided. She was born August 13, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan to Fred and Harriet Welser, longtime residents of Gladwin, Michigan.

Irene graduated from Gladwin High School in 1950. She enjoyed playing high school sports, including basketball and tennis. Her love of sports continued throughout her life, as she enjoyed watching several sports, especially tennis. Irene attended Michigan State University for a year. Irene was an avid walker, and walked daily around town as many Gladwin residents can attest to. She also enjoyed reading and knitting. Irene loved driving and taking rides. Her favorite place to visit in Michigan was Sault Ste. Marie, where she loved watching the ships pass through the canal.

Irene married Dick Malosh, of Beaverton, Michigan in 1952. They were married for 49 years and raised their children in Gladwin. Irene was predeceased by Dick in August 2001.

Irene was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church throughout her life. She sang in the church choir and played in the bell choir. She was an active member of the Lady’s Aid, volunteering many hours regularly, including at the yearly Sauerkraut and Sausage Supper. Irene worked throughout her life as a pharmacy technician in Gladwin.

Irene was predeceased by her parents and her brother Bob (Winifred) Welser. She is survived by her three children Ann (Mike) Kruchkow, Pat (Tony) Hall, of Gladwin, and Bob (Denise)Malosh of Commerce, Michigan; her grandchildren Ian Renas, Jenna Kruchkow-Pacek, Allison(Allen) Malosh, Ryan (Michelle) Malosh, Kent (Josh) Malosh, Mitch (Andrea) Hall, and Stephanie (Todd) Roehrs; and great-grandchildren Wade, Cash, Jade, Sayla, Charlene, Eleanor, Henry and Vincent; and nephews and nieces and their families. Her extended Welser family lives in Marine City.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 14 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Hall Kokotovich Funeral Home of Gladwin. Funeral services will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church of Gladwin, Wednesday, February 15 at 11:00 am, with a brief visitation before the service.
