Harold "Leonard" Bloom

Harold “Leonard” Bloom, 88, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away at Mid Michigan Gladwin Pines on Monday, December 4, 2017. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 2, 1929 the son of Harold & Dorothy (Shriner) Bloom. He was a veteran of the United States National Guard proudly serving his country in the Korean Conflict from 1950-1956. On December 5, 1992 he was united in marriage to Ellen Cummings in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He had lived in Gladwin County since 2002, previously residing in Charlevoix County and Dearborn Heights. He was owner/operator of Big Bills Sport Shop and World Wide Emblem in Dearborn Heights, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed bowling, golf and working with wood. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife of 25 years, Ellen Bloom of Gladwin; son: Michael (Barbara) Bloom of Traverse City; daughter: Carol (Steven) Westjohn of Gladwin. He was blessed with 2 precious grandchildren: Lauren (Matt) Ritchey of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Dana Westjohn of Rawlins, Wyoming. He is also survived by his step children: Faith Grace of Eastpointe, MI; Hope (Jeffrey) La Combe of Canton, MI; Julia (Paul) Tomlinson also of Canton; Dawn Penive of Garden City; 7 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren; nieces: Sarah (Ronald) Reed and sister-in-laws: Patricia Bloom; Michelle (William) Daudlin and Marsheila Cummings; bro-in-laws: Dennis (Carol) Cummings; Michael (Janet) Cummings; Gregory (Barbara) Cummings; John (Dianne) Cummings; Ronald (Katherine) Cummings. He is preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Dorothy Bloom; brother: Carl Bloom; brother in-law: James Cummings and a niece Lisa Bloom. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan.
