Gerald W. Rice, 91, of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May, 26, 2018 at the Horizon Senior Living Center VI in Gladwin. Gerald was born July 11, 1926, in Huron County to Carlton & Edith Rice. He was preceded in death by his parents, along with his brothers: Carlton, Kent, Clark & Bruce Rice and sisters: Cathalyn Durham & Gladys Burch. He is survived by one sister: Patricia Fritcher of Gladwin, 6 nephews, 5 nieces, along with several great nieces & nephews. Gerald graduated from Gladwin Rural Agricultural High School and also attended MSU. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and later enlisted in the U.S. Army. He traveled many parts of the world while in he service and continued traveling on many trips with the JAG Tour Bus after his retirement from Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan. He also was a member of the Sage Township Golden Agers and the Gladwin Area Friends of the Theater. Gerald will be missed by his family and many friends. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at the Community of Christ Church, Gladwin, Michigan. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery, Gladwin, Michigan. A special thanks to his special friends: Robert Wibley, Gordon & Maxine Switzer, Gladwin Council on Aging, Hospice Compassus, Bo, Jenna, Jess along with many other caring staff members that provided a loving family environment at the Horizon Senior Living VI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Council on Aging of Gladwin, Hospice Compassus, or Gladwin Area Friends of the Theater.
