George Whitney

George Henry Whitney III, age 75, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024. He was born on September 15, 1949, the son of Pat and George Henry Whitney I, in Gladwin, MI. George married Barbara, the love of his life, with whom he shared many cherished years until her passing in 2018. George pursued his passion for ministry, becoming a licensed minister and serving as a pastor in Iowa before his retirement. 

An avid reader, George accumulated hundreds of religious books and had an astonishing memory for every title he read, no matter how much time had passed. He enjoyed daily long walks, rides up North, and engaging in biblical discussions with others. 

He is survived by his sons: George Henry Whitney II (Nicole) and Joshua Michael Whitney (Zinab); his grandson: Bryson Whitney; sisters: Rhoda (Gary) Whitney-Townsend and Bonnie Whitney-MacAlmon; and his nieces and nephews: Lorie, Gary, Larry, Tori, and Rhonda. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephew: Travis; and great-niece: Heather. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 12:00 noon at Assembly of God Church in Gladwin. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com.
