On Friday, August 2, 2019, Gary Dean Grove, was suddenly raised up from the confines of his wheelchair and passed to his home in heaven. Gary was born in Clare, to Junior & Bonita (Downing) Grove. He was born on June 13, 1958, into a family of seven children and raised on a farm in Beaverton.
He graduated from Beaverton High School in 1976. He then went to work at Richardson Hog Farm and Allbee’s Auto Repair. Being the free spirit he was he went on a few spontaneous “Road Trips” with his buddies to Florida and to the upper penninsula.
On July 29, 1979, Gary was involved in an auto accident leaving him bound to a wheelchair. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming. Although someone else would have to pull the trigger, and bait his hook. He also liked reminiscing about stories from the past with his family and friends. Conveniently he always remembered details that none of the rest of us could, if not he would make them up. Gary made his weekly trek around Beaverton and you never knew for sure who’s house he would “end up” at for dinner.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Junior Grove & Dede Gedney, grandparents: Wilbur & Mary Grove, Fred & Julia Downing, nephew: Lincoln Brubaker, great nephew: Devon Callas.
Gary will be missed by his sisters: Debra (Brian) Genaw, Judy (Dennis) Brubaker, brother: David (Shawn) Grove, sisters: Penny (Steve) Sterling, Vickie (Mark) Oliver, Jill (David) Anderson. Along with many nieces & nephews, and many aunts, uncles & cousins. Also his dads special friend Barb and longtime aid/friend Butch.
A service remembering his life will be conducted on Friday, August 9, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association in his name in memory of his great nephew Devon Callas or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton, Michigan. www.hall-kokotovichfuneralhome.com
