Carl Elroy Hitchcock, 92, of Beaverton, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. He was born on February 19, 1930, the son of Carl S. Hitchcock and Margaret “Peggy” Gormon in Lansing. Elroy grew up in Lansing, Michigan, and moved to Beaverton his Freshman Year. He graduated from Beaverton in 1949.
Elroy married his high school sweetheart, Glenna Brubaker in 1952, at Hickum Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. They were married for 63 years before her passing in 2015.
He joined the United States Air Force on February 1, 1950, where he was an Air Passenger Specialist and was honorably discharged on January 31, 1954.
Elroy worked for Dow Corning for 13 years before joining his father at W.H. Hall and Son the hardware lumber company in Beaverton. He purchased the company from his father making it a second generation store. He decided to close the store in 2001 when he retired.
He was a member of the Beaverton Lions club and enjoyed hunting and riding his horse.
Elroy is survived by his children: Peggy (Kevin) Neville, Roger (Gail) Hitchcock, Pamela (Scott) Groves, and Tyler Hitchcock; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be conducted by Father Marcel Portelli on Saturday, February 4, 2023, 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gladwin. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2022, from 4-8:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton. He will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
