Donald Hale, age 82, of Gladwin, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025. He was born on August 11, 1942, the son of Lorn and Alice (Thorington) Hale, in Clare County. He was employed as a Master Craftsman for Dow Chemical. After retiring from Dow, he enjoyed driving for Gladwin County Transit for 20 years. Donald married the love of his life, Carol Berry, and they shared 61 happy years together.
Donald was an active member of his community. He served for many years as Gladwin Township Treasurer. He also served on the Gladwin County Fire Board and Board of Review. For many years, he volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels. A true outdoorsman, Donald found joy in hunting, fishing, and farming. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife: Carol; daughters: Lorri (Kent) Allen, and Lisa (Matt) Drake; son: Donald Hale Jr; grandchildren: Alyssa (Patrick) Locey, Lucas Allen, Carson Allen, Kelsey (Drew) Drake, Ciera Drake, and Lexi (Brandon) Geiser; great-grandchildren: Hendrix Locey and Drake Geiser; sister: Karen Morse; sister in laws: Carol Hale and Susan Hale; several nieces and nephews; and his special little canine friends: Milly and Maisy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Larry, Orland, and Richard.
