Dianne E. Proulx passed from this world on March 02, 2024, after an extended illness. Dianne was born May 15, 1937. As a young single woman, Dianne made her way in the world at a time when it was far more difficult to be a single woman with a career. As a telephone operator, she began when a there were cord-boards, and the motto of an operator was “A Voice with a Smile.” When she retired from her operator career, the telephone companies had advanced to computers and the service calls were far fewer. In the middle 1990s, she realized her life-long dream of owning a home, when she moved to Gladwin County MI. While she was a private person, she made friends with a number of people in the county. Each day while she was able, she’d drive into the City of Gladwin to check out what was happening, visit a few of her favorite stores, and maybe stop in to one of her favorite local restaurants for an omelet or the daily special. She loved animals, especially her dogs.
Dianne leaves behind her dog, Sophie, who is being cared for by a dear friend. She was never married, nor did she have children. Dianne was one of five children, born to Alban and Sarah Proulx. Her twin brother Joel and her brothers, David and Phillip, pre-deceased her. Katy Proulx, her beloved sister in law, widow of David Proulx survives her. Her sister, Yvonne, survives her, along with her niece Moira Morris, nephew Daniel Faherty, and her niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Frank Proulx. She also leaves behind a number of good friends, especially Linda Woodruff, Linda Cameron, Corkie Mitchell, Marilyn Eline, Cathi Gewinger, her favorite beautician, MaryBeth Zelt, and Susan Myers.
It was Dianne’s wish not to have a service marking her death. Rather, she would request that people care about one another and see the good in those around them. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome.com
