Born in Tyrone, he moved as a young child to South Lyon MI where he resided until 1986.  Never one to be idle, Dans first job as a young man was to deliver papers for the South Lyon Herald.  For a short time after working at the Tube Mill, Dan found his life long career as everyone's favorite flooring technician.  Dan’s was always true to his faith and was a member of South Lyon First Baptist Church and drove the Sunday School bus many years. He also had a love of snowmobile racing that shined through as he showcased many wins with trophies through the years.  In 1986 following Michigan's recession he moved his family to Apple Valley CA within San Bernardino Counties where a booming economy existed.   Here, he and his wife opened a flooring retail store.   Shortly after, in 1988, they opened their home to foster children, taking in over 30 children through the years.

In 1992 his family moved to Michigan, back to their roots. Dan would continue his career in flooring and he and Ilene continued foster care. Here they attended Grace Bible Church and then Emanuel Baptist Church and were avid sports fans of their grandchildren. After the loss of his wife, Dan joined the Moose in Harrison and found joy in karaoke. He later joined the Gladwin Eagles where he'd shoot pool with friends.   He loved to be on the move and be with his friends and family.  Whether it was driving to keep everyone safe or singing to have fun, he was a dedicated friend, father, and grandfather.  Dan's willingness to help others and gentle spirit will be greatly missed.
