Coral L. Brokoff

January 30, 1924 — July 7, 2018

Coral L. Brokoff, 94, of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on July 7, 2018, at the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home. She was born on January 30, 1924, the daughter of Stanley & Gertrude (Hetherington) Breault in Gladwin, Michigan. On April 24, 1944, she was united in marriage to Edmund Brokoff in Gladwin. He preceded her in death in 1971. She lived in Gladwin County her entire life and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin.

Coral was baptized, confirmed and married at the Zion Lutheran, Oberlin which combined with St. Paul Gladwin to form Our Savior Lutheran Church, where she served the Lord for many years in the Ladies Aid, Sunday school, quilting, Bible School, and the famous Sauerkraut Supper as the “Gravy Lady”. Coral was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and hardworking partner with Ed on their 110 acre farm. She shared her love of cooking and baking at O’Dell’s Restaurant and the Gladwin City Housing Commission Nutrition Program.  Many family and friends were the recipients of her talents in basket weaving, quilting, teddy bear making, blueberry picking and gardening.

Left to cherish her memory are her 3 children: Terry (Eileen) Brokoff of Gladwin; Janet (Jerome) Wilz of Greenville, SC; Emma Lou (Robert) Brasseur of Gladwin. Her children blessed her with 6 grandchildren: Alicia Brokoff of East Grand Rapids; Scott Brokoff of Grand Blanc; Leslie (Steve) Owens of Hendersonville, NC; Lance (Mundi) Owen of Greer, SC; Lane Owen of Taylors, SC; Steve Brasseur of Gladwin; 8 great grandchildren: Kevin, Keith, Nicholas, Austin, Anna, Reese, Nicholas & Michael; and one great-great grandchild, Caroline.  She is also survived by her sisters: Donna Lee Matthews of Gladwin and Vivian Breault of Maple Heights, OH; sister-in-law, Ruth Breault of Clinton Township, MI; many nieces, nephews and special Godchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandchildren: Stephanie & Phillip Brasseur; and siblings: Ethel Nickless, William Breault, Alna Brown, Ralph Breault, George Breault, Wilbur Breault, Marian Klein, Nellie Grey & Frank Breault.

Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor James Krach on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Gladwin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, from 2-8:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin and on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery, Gladwin, Michigan.
