Connie Louise (Varney) Grice, 74, of Gladwin, MI, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on August 25, 2022 after a long illness.
Connie was born on May 12,1948 in Tennessee, the daughter of Donald and Mary (Muncy) Varney. She spent her early childhood in Tennessee, eventually moving to Michigan when she was 10 years old. While she made Michigan her home for the remainder of her life, she never lost her taste for southern cooking, always enjoying grits, okra and black-eyed peas.
Connie married Gerald Grice on October 8,1966. They made their home in Beaverton, MI, for several years and during this time had three children. Her children, and eventually her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were her pride and joy. She loved cheering them on in scouting, sporting events, band concerts, and whenever there was an opportunity to celebrate (especially if it meant making more food than was actually needed). Connie’s heart was big; her home was open to friends, family, and most certainly dogs that needed a place to call home.
Connie was employed at various places in Gladwin County throughout the years, most recently at Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center, where she was a unit secretary for several years. While she enjoyed her work, she enjoyed the fellowship with her coworkers even more.
Over the years, Connie enjoyed bowling and playing Bunko, and more recently, Wednesday morning breakfast with her friends, sewing Love Bears for children in need at the Church of Christ, and especially, adventures with her best friend, Betty.
In addition to her loving husband of 56 years, she leaves her children, Scott (Penny) Grice of Beaverton, Randy (Michelle) Grice of West Branch, Julie (Grice) Campbell of Gales Ferry, CT; sister Teresa (Mike) Enfield of Rosebush; grandchildren Justin (Amy), Tanner, Ryan (Kati), Kyle (Allison), Nikki, Ally, Mikey, Sam, Abby and Robert; great-grandchildren Bentley, Brantley and Brooklyn; nephews Allen and Nathan; niece Mary.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brothers Donnie and Michael, and son-in-law Mike.
There are no calling hours and burial will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin MI.
