Clare Coggins

August 7, 1939 — May 1, 2020

Clare K. Coggins, 80, of Beaverton, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020, at his home. He was born on August 7, 1939, the son of Louis & Elsie (Sian) Coggins in Midland. He was united in marriage to Cathy Ferguson on April 15, 1972. They shared many wonderful years together before she preceded him in death.

Clare was a Heavy Equipment Operator and member of the Operating Engineers Union 324, and owner of Coggins' Excavating for the last 20 year until his grandson recently took over the business. Clare was a very hard worker and this was going to be his first year fully retired. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and spending time with his large family. He loved taking car rides with his wife and dog looking at deer. Last weekend, he was able to take one last "fishing" trip. He and his dog drove to the U.P to watch the guys fish. On his way back home he was very excited to have seen some elk by the side of the road. Also, he was recently able to enjoy the bounty of some fresh smelt from one of those fishing trips!

Left to cherish his memory are his 4 sons: Keith (Sona) Coggins, Kevin (Christina) Coggins, Craig (Lisa Wallace) Coggins, and Tony (Kristelle Grable) Coggins; grandchildren: Keith Ray Coggins, Scottie Coggins, Larry Coggins, Courtney Coggins, Madison Coggins, Jason Coggins, Clare Coggins, Patrick Coggins, Adam Coggins, Racheal (Coggins) & Jake Earegood, Colton (Rachel) Coggins, Anthony (Chantel) Coggins, Chad (Katie) Coggins, Emily (Coggins) & Omar Granados, and Jyllian Coggins (Hunter Scholp); and several great grandchildren; siblings: Lou (Sherry) Coggins of Florida, Phyllis (Coggins) Lorenz of Midland, Carl (Becky) Coggins of Sanford

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; siblings: Roger Coggins, Francis Coggins, Geraldine Duford, and Clarence Coggins.

Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, Michigan. www.hall-kokotovichfuneralhome.com
