On the morning of August 4, Carolyn Newman of Beaverton passed away peacefully at the age of 80 at Horizons, in Gladwin, MI. Carolyn was born to the late Harley and Ruth (Hanner) Coats on January 18 th , 1942. She was a beautician for many years and was married to the love of her life, Larry (Lar) for 62 years. They were married at her sister Wilma’s house in Mason, Michigan, on December 10, 1960. They have two children Vicki (Jeff) Seiter of Farwell, MI, and Kurt (Terrie) Newman of Beaverton, MI. She has three grandchildren Jessi (Ryan) Harris of Beaverton, MI, Zak (Skylar) Newman of Beaverton, MI, and Josh (Abbey) Newman of Beaverton, MI. Carolyn also has three great grandchildren, Korbin and Haddi Mae Harris, and Myles Newman. She was a lifelong member of the Arthur Center Church of God.
When she wasn’t doing hair, she enjoyed gardening and jeep rides to the cabin with her big guy. She treasured being around her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved her yearly trips to the U.P. with Lar, and her winter vacations to Tennessee and Alabama. Her long walks on the beach with Ruth and golfing with her niece, Lori Ann and Phil are some of her fondest memories.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Larry, her brother Elden (Dorothy) Coats of Gladwin, MI, her brother and sister in law, George and Joyce Earle of Clare, MI, Jim and Shirley Newman of Gladwin, MI, Sam and Ruth Bagnieski of Beaverton, MI, and Sue Newman of Beaverton, MI, along with several nieces and nephews.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents Harley and Ruth Coats, her sisters Delores, Wilma and (Jack) Newman, her brothers Joe (Betty) Coats and Ralph (Annie) Coats, her brother-in-law Rollie Newman, and mother and father-in-law Edith and Glen Newman.

Our mom/grandma was the light of our lives; she always found the good in everything. If you knew her you knew the true meaning of love. She loved everyone and everything. Even in her sickest days she always had a smile on her face and was worried about everyone else.
On October 8 th there will be a service hel d at Arthur Township Cemetery at 1 : 00 P.M . with a memor ial imm ed iately following at the family ca bin. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home.
