Bonnie Burgess

Bonnie B Burgess, 89 of Beaverton MI passed away at home with family at her side on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.  Bonnie was born in Midland MI on December 27, 1931 the daughter of Francis and Lucile (Van Sickle) Graves.

Bonnie graduated from Beaverton High School class of 1949 and married the love of her life James R Burgess Sr on June 12, 1949.  Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage before Jim’s passing on June 18, 2014.

Bonnie was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  Bonnie worked for many years at Agin’s 5 & 10 in Beaverton.  Upon her retirement, Jim and Bonnie enjoyed several winters in Florida, enjoyed their garden in the summer and family all year long!

Bonnie was an active member of Beaverton Church of the Nazarene having served in many roles.

Bonnie leaves behind her three children, Jim (Kathy) Burgess of Beaverton, John Burgess of Beaverton and Janet (Phil) Bates of Corunna.  Also left to cherish her memory are her 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, which have been the pride and joy of her life.  Sisters, Betty Mavis and Beverly Torrez, sisters in law Jane Burgess and Sharon Graves along with many nieces and nephews that have shared a special spot in her family circle.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, James Burgess Sr., parents Francis and Lucile Graves, Ransom and Ellen Burgess, sister Ruth Ann Atkinson, brother Bill Graves, sister in law Ada Ruth Frick and brother in law Kenneth Burgess.

Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Martin Hodge on Saturday, January 23, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be held on January 22, 2021, from 3-8:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton. She will be laid to rest at Beaverton City Cemetery.
