Barbara Doty

Barbara (Barb) Jean (Foor) Doty, age 82, of Gladwin, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Barbara was born on October 6, 1941, the daughter of Wendell and Edna (Berg) Foor, of Gladwin. Barbara graduated from Gladwin High School and Northwood University.

Barbara married William H. Doty on February 13, 1960. As a Navy wife, they lived in various locations over the years. Together they raised three children. After Bill retired, they returned to make a home in Gladwin and lived the rest of her life together. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and six wonderful great-grandchildren.

Barb had many activities she loved doing. Barb enjoyed bowling, she was named Bowler of the year and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. She enjoyed going to the casino, bingo, hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time in her flower beds. Most of all, she loved her husband Bill. She cherished precious moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had many more memorable moments including family and friends.

She is survived by her husband: Bill Doty of Gladwin; sisters: Karolyn (Harry) Martin of Marion and Sandy (Phil) Smith of Palm Coast, FL; brother: Ed (Tina) Foor of Gladwin; sister-in-law: Linda (Bill) Schrauben of Fowler, MI; daughters: Tammy Roach (Jason Swinehart) and Sandy (Tim) Goodwin of Gladwin; son: Michael (Denelle) Doty of Rawlins, WY; grandchildren: Jennifer Doty, Tim Jr., Melissa Goodwin, Tyler (Taylor) Doty, Haley Doty, Zachary and Erin Swinehart; great-grandchildren: Miranda and Blake Cornman, Jordan Goodwin, Bentley and Bridger Doty, and Adriana Archuleta; along with many other close family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Wendell and Edna Foor; sister: Sue (Jim) Westfall; grandson: Jason Roach; and nephew: Brian Foor.

Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Gladwin, MI. Visitation with the family will take place from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
