Alan Leon Swanton, 69, passed away on April 15, 2025, in Gladwin, Michigan. He was born February 15, 1956, the son of Richard and Shirley (Longstreth) Swanton, in Clare. On August 30, 2012, he married Anita Pitcher, and together they shared 13 years of love and cherished memories. Alan often spent his time fishing and tinkering, he was always working on a project.
Alan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, his quiet strength, and the deep love he held for his family. He took special joy in being “Pawpaw” to his grandchildren, a role he cherished above all. Alan’s presence brought comfort and steadiness to those around him, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Anita Swanton; his children, Jeremy (Amy) Swanton, Brent (Katie) Swanton, and Andrea (Damon) Taylor; his beloved grandchildren, Bayleigh, Trevor, Kaimen, Brenna, Shelby, Kyron, Brice, Charlee, Edrie, and Maddox; He also leaves behind his siblings, Kerry (Troy) Staker, Cathy Draves, Olon Swanton, Kirk (Kristi) Swanton, Janet French, and Jeannie Graves.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Swanton; Daughter-in-Law, Elaena Swanton; his parents, Richard and Shirley Swanton; and his sister, Sally Ireland.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
