Ward Clifton Russell, 91, of Beaverton, Michigan passed away in Midland, Michigan on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. He was born in Gladwin, Michigan on December 28, 1925 the son of Carl & Mattie (Harris) Russell. On August 29, 1948 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, D. Eloise Brown in Beaverton. He was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County and he was employed as an Oil Well Pumper, working until he turned 80 years old as well as holding the office of Supervisor for the Beaverton Department of Public Works for 20 years. Ward attended the Beaverton United Methodist Church, and he was an active member of the Beaverton Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife of 68 wonderful years, Doris E. Russell of Beaverton; son: Arlie (Alicia) Russell of Beaverton; daughters: Dawn (Donald) Shurlow of Midland; Marva (Marvin) Balzer of Gladwin. His children blessed him with 10 beautiful grandchildren: Janelle Shurlow, John Shurlow, Edward (Tina) Balzer, Marc Balzer, Carrie (Jason) Silver, Hayley (Chris) Turner, Danielle (Blane) Lester, Jacob (Shelly) Russell, Alicia (Mitch) Spencer and Chad Arthur and 16 precious great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his daughter in-law: Peggy (Mike) Laskus; sister: Joyce (Gordon) Tuck and many nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his son: Randy Ward Russell; parents: Carl and Mattie Russell; brothers: Donald (Joyce) Russell; Lee Russell (Diane) Anderson; sister: Bernice (Calvin) Bergman. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Lynn Chappell on Saturday, March 18, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Beaverton, Michigan. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 2-8:00 P.M. He will be laid to rest at Beaverton City Cemetery, Beaverton, Michigan.
