Ethel V. Fite, 93, of Manistique, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017. She was born on August 11, 1923, the daughter of Claude & Ruth (Preedy) Bernard in Portsmouth, Virginia. On March 1, 1958, she married the love of her life, Robert Fite in Gladwin, Michigan. Ethel resided between Manistique, Michigan and Punta Gorda, Florida for the past 15 years, previously residing in Gladwin, Michigan and Freeland, Michigan. She was a homemaker and loved gardening, wildlife, painting, and sewing. Ethel was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 131, Munising, Michigan and Christ Lutheran Church, Shingleton, Michigan. She loved helping the girl scouts, 4-H, Sunday school, American Legion Auxiliary Post 131 in her younger days. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 58 years: Bob Fite of Manistique, Michigan; daughter: Roberta Hargreaves of Chesapeake, Virginia; grandson: Aaron Hargreaves of Chesapeake, Virginia; several nieces & nephews; and many friends whom she considered family. She is preceded in death by her parents; son: Joseph in 1996 and brothers: Frank, Robert and Joseph. Memorial Services will be conducted later in the spring in Munising, Michigan. She will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery, Gladwin, Michigan.
